Description from the seller
Joan Garriga “El Comecocos” – Original Dainese competition one-piece suit (1987–1989)
A highly representative piece of late-80s Spanish motorcycling is up for auction: the original competition suit worn by Joan Garriga Vilaresau, “El Comecocos” or “Boeing 747,” one of the most charismatic riders in the history of the FIM Road Racing World Championship.
Joan Garriga starred alongside Sito Pons in one of the most legendary rivalries of the 250 cc class, reaching the world runner-up title in 1988 after securing three wins and ten podiums during a season considered historic for Spanish motorcycling.
This suit corresponds to the period when Garriga rode sponsored by Ducados, equipped by Dainese and with technical sponsorship from Michelin, roughly between the 1987 and 1989 seasons, during which he cemented himself as one of the most spectacular riders in the world paddock.
The piece preserves all the characteristic elements of competition:
* Full leather Dainese one-piece suit.
* Original Dainese logos.
* Original Michelin patch.
* Name “GARRIGA” sewn on the back.
* Original knee sliders with clear wear from use.
* Genuine racing patina, with marks, scuffs and signs typical of real track use.
* Original period configuration, with no visible restorations.
This is not a replica or commemorative suit, but a true competition suit used during the golden era of the 250 cc World Championship.
Its condition precisely reflects what sports memorabilia collectors seek: authenticity, history and real competition use.
