Splendid and large square underplate in glazed faience (Majolica style), Gabriel Fourmaintraux productions from Desvres (France), dating from the late 19th or early 20th century.
The piece rests on 4 conical feet and features a magnificent heraldic scene painted by hand. One can admire a central shield supported by two rampant lions, topped by a knight's helmet. The lower part of the decoration highlights two prestigious French decorations, including the Legion of Honor. A richly colored garland of acanthus leaves frames the scene beautifully.
