Fossil jaw fragment of an adult Mosasaurus (Mosasaurus sp.) from Khouribga phosphate mines, Morocco, dating to the Mesozoic, preserved and treated, in natural condition, about 48 cm long, 21 cm high, 7 cm deep and weighing 4.3 kg.
Description from the seller
Very well-preserved jaw fragment of an adult mosasaur, as the imposing teeth clearly show.
A fascinating piece of prehistory: a fossil upper jaw fragment of a Mosasaurus, the undisputed apex predator of the Late Cretaceous seas.
The piece shows a row of characteristic, pointed teeth firmly embedded in the fossil jaw bone.
The find comes from the famous phosphate basins of Khouribga in Morocco. It has been carefully prepared to render the jaw plastically and in contrast with the surrounding matrix rock.
An imposing and extremely decorative collectible piece that perfectly illustrates the power of these fossil "sea monsters".
Note for collectors: As is customary and market-typical with Moroccan jaw fossils, the bones and teeth were stabilized, assembled and restored during extraction and preparation.
The top predators of the ancient world are estimated by experts to have reached an overall length of about 17 meters when fully grown.
A piece of this quality and size is the highlight of any collection!
Ideal as decor, a display piece, a gift, a healing crystal stone, a keepsake, for collectors, children, school presentations on prehistoric times, esotericism and much more.
Size & weight:
Approximately 48 cm long, height 21 cm and width about 7 cm
Approximately 4300 grams heavy
Origin country: Khouribga phosphate mines, Morocco
Information about the dinosaur:
Mosasaurs lived in the sea and were carnivorous dinosaurs; depending on the species, their skulls were broader or narrower. They were equipped with robust jaws, as well as large teeth and strong muscles that enabled a very strong bite; their four limbs were shaped into paddles to steer the animal underwater.
They gained particular fame through the films Jurassic Park & Jurassic World.
