Description from the seller
Megalodon tooth from the Miocene – North Carolina, USA
This very impressive lower jaw Megalodon tooth is from the United States, where fossils like these are found directly on the seabed. This provides a beautiful robust appearance and an authentic, 'lived-in' look – pure nature. But this tooth has truly perfect serrations, which is certainly unique among USA teeth!
Compared to fossils from other localities, such as Indonesia, USA teeth are known for their solid, strong roots and high degree of originality. Indonesian teeth can sometimes show sharper serrations and a smoother enamel due to the type of sediment in which they are found, but are also more often repaired or even partially reconstructed. In the USA restoration is much less common, which is why most finds – like this specimen – have remained fully authentic.
This tooth is 100% original and not restored, with a powerful root and fine natural details. A special and honest piece for the serious collector who values authenticity.
