Madonna with Child – plaster – Belgium – mid-20th century
Professionally shipped – more than 950 five-star reviews worldwide.
Tenderly executed sculpture of Mary with the sleeping Child Jesus in her arms. Mary looks down at the child while her cloak falls loosely around the body. Notice the soft facial expression and the flowing drapery. The Child rests with folded hands on her arm, while the long cloak continues down to the base of the clouds. The finish of the face and hair forms a beautiful contrast with the simplicity of the garment.
Height 41 cm; with polychrome painting, on the reverse signed Maucci and Guelfi, in good condition with slight signs of aging and wear, including a few small paint wear spots on the cloak and base.
