Description from the seller
I am offering you today the chance to bid on a true 19th-century marvel: this procession lantern, made of brass (perhaps bronze) and with its period glass; gaze at the finesse of this little jewel.
Processions outside churches at night have disappeared. In the past they required lanterns to light the road. There were several models. It was also customary to accompany the priest with a lantern when he went to a sick person to bring him Communion. Very few Parisian churches have kept such examples. Now these lanterns have appeared only in very rare cases; you can find them in museums or churches as decorative ornaments, or simply as traces of the past.
Note the small chips around the inner edge of the glass.
Collectors of religious objects, curiosities, or simply of small marvels—this auction is for you.
As with all my items put up for auction on this site, this wonder has undergone no cleaning (just dusting) nor any modification since its purchase.
Enjoy bidding, everyone.
Please look carefully at the photos, which are part of the description. Any damage not mentioned in the text but visible in the photos is considered described.
No shipping outside the EU; if you are outside the European Union you may bid on one of my lots, however no claims will be possible in case of transport problems. Due to the new import/export regulations to the USA there will be no shipping to that country.
Professional, careful shipping with signature on delivery and insurance.
