Hand-hammered brass jardinière on claw feet – sculptural centerpiece – mid-20th century. This is one of those objects that immediately gives a space weight and character.

A substantial hand-hammered brass jardinière with a broad, undulating rim, twisted cord finish and four pronounced claw feet. The convex base, vertical ribs and repoussé studs create a bold and rich silhouette.

The entire surface bears a lively hammer-mark pattern. This makes the brass catch the light differently from every angle. Warm gold by day. Deep and atmospheric by candlelight.

The form references Arts and Crafts, neoclassical interior art and early 20th-century metalworking. The exact maker and provenance have not been established. Based on construction and execution, we cautiously date the object to the mid-20th century.

Use it as a centerpiece on a long dining table. Fill it with hydrangeas, eucalyptus or dried flowers. Place it empty on a dark wooden sideboard and let the sculptural form do the talking. Also lovely as a cachepot, jardinière or showpiece on a mantel.
