Impressive Large Austrian Rococo Revival Teapot / Coffee Pot, ca. 1880-1900 - Heavy 800 Silver
> Stunning large baluster teapot from the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Vienna.
> Hallmarks: Austrian Diana Head official hallmark for 800 silver (1867-1922) with "A" for Vienna, and 13 loth / 800 standard mark with maker's mark. See macro photo. The mark "13" inside corresponds to the old lot system for 812.5 / 800 silver.
> Design: Richly decorated Rococo Revival form. Fluted melon body raised on a stepped pedestal foot, with high curled spout and elaborate floral repoussé cartouches on both sides. Hinged domed lid with original large cast rose finial. Original heat-insulated scroll handle in light-coloured material (faux ivory / bone).
> Measurements & Weight: Height approx. 25x22 cm to top of finial. Total weight 687 grams as shown on digital scale. Heavy gauge silver, well above average.
> Condition: Very good antique condition. Good overall polish with normal age-related surface scratches and light oxidation inside consistent with age. No dents, no splits. Hinge and lid closure work perfectly. Handle is stable with light age discoloration typical for this material. Interior shows use but is clean.
