Description from the seller
Antique brass coffee machine around 1900 – Magnificent samovar / rechaud with hand engraving – Probably custom-made / unique piece
For sale is an exceptionally magnificent and rare collector's item from the period of Historicism / Art Nouveau (around 1900). It is a decorative, octagonal coffee machine (hot water dispenser) with an original spirit burner (rechaud).
Due to the extraordinarily fine and detailed workmanship as well as the rare octagonal form, it is to be assumed that this is a high-quality single piece (masterpiece or manufactory work).
Important safety note:
The object is expressly sold as a pure collector, display, and decoration piece. Since it is over 120 years old, its technical function (tightness of taps, burner function) has not been tested in everyday operation. A use for preparing beverages is therefore not recommended.
Special features & details:
• Material: Solid brass with noble, authentic patina of age.
• Artful decoration: The eight side plates are engraved all around with very fine floral scrolls and grape motifs. The engravings have been white-patinized (laid out), making the decor stand out plastically and with extreme contrast.
• Equipment:
◦ Two elegant taps with original turned wooden handles.
◦ A large central wooden handle (also original and firmly seated).
◦ Complete, three-legged rechaud stand with original spirit burner and ornate footed supports.
• Condition: Excellent, age-appropriate original condition. No major damage, cracks, or missing parts. The wooden handles are firm and well preserved. The brass shines beautifully and shows a charming historical patina.
This object is not only a dream for collectors of antique kitchen and household appliances, but also an absolute eye-catcher (eyecatcher) for any discerning antiques collection, for historic cafés, or as exclusive decoration in the living area.
• Era: Historicism / Art Nouveau (ca. 1890–1910)
• Dimensions: (Please add height and width in cm)
• Included in delivery: Octagonal kettle with lid, carrying handle, 2 taps, stand (rechaud) and original burner.
