Ferdinand Barbedienne (1810–1892) – Gilded bronze inkwell with a warrior head - Signed - France, 19th century. An important 19th-century French inkwell, executed in chiselled and gilded bronze, from the famous Ferdinand Barbedienne foundry (1810–1892). It features an elaborate Neoclassical-inspired decoration, composed of vegetal and zoomorphic motifs. The handle is topped by an expressive head of a warrior wearing a helmet. The circular body rests on three claw-shaped feet and retains its interior glass reservoir. Signed piece, of high craftsmanship, representative of the prestigious French bronze art production of Ferdinand Barbedienne.
