Ancestor figures - Adan/ewe - Togo
Three well-used Aklama-figures, used on family altars to communicate with the ancestors in times of need.
To facilitate this communication these figures are decorated with white kaolin or red ocre; this makes these figures more strong. The standing bird is 23 cm tall. The small figure with the shortened arms is 21 cm. taal. Finally the red-white figure (representing a market vendor?) is 20 cm. tall.
All of these items were collected in Togo in the early 2000.s.
