1920s–1930s French Art Deco Crystal Inkwell – Geometric Faceted Design
A striking French Art Deco inkwell dating from the 1920s–1930s, showcasing the bold geometric aesthetics that define the period. Crafted from heavy faceted crystal with a matching hinged crystal lid mounted on a patinated metal fitting, this elegant desk accessory beautifully reflects light from every angle while embodying the refined craftsmanship of the Art Deco movement.
The square body features sharply cut architectural lines and a substantial weight, making it both decorative and functional. The original metal-mounted hinged lid opens smoothly to reveal the original ink reservoir. This piece is an excellent addition to an Art Deco collection, a period writing desk, or a curated display of early 20th-century decorative objects.
Origin & Period: France, circa 1920s–1930s.
Materials: Cut crystal and metal with original patina.
Dimensions: Height: 8 cm (3.15 in). Width: 6 cm (2.36 in). Depth: 6 cm (2.36 in).
Condition: Good vintage condition overall, with age-related wear to the metal components and oxidation consistent with its age. The crystal remains bright and attractive, with one small chip to a corner, visible in the photographs. The inkwell retains excellent decorative appeal despite this minor imperfection.
A fine and authentic French Art Deco desk accessory, combining elegant geometric design with timeless craftsmanship, making it highly desirable for collectors of Art Deco decorative arts and antique writing accessories.
