Baroque Column (2) - 18th century and later - Pair of columns

Pair of wooden columns from the first half of the 18th century. Richly carved in the shaft with overlapping scale motifs and grapevines with grapes and flowers. This type of work places them in the Lombardo-Veneto or Lucanian area. The scale motif (or pinecone) in sacred art represents immortality or resurrection. The column is topped by an anthropomorphic Corinthian capital with winged cherubs. The bases beneath the columns and the upper plates are of a later period. Some defects and small deficiencies.
