Elegant writing desk box, or correspondence holder, in mahogany wood with a brass handle, characterized by the diagonal geometric lines typical of antique craftsmanship.
The box is made of mahogany with a warm reddish tone and is shaped according to the classic slope front form. It measures 31 cm in width, 29 cm in height, and 40 cm in depth. The weight is 4 kg, attesting to its construction in solid wood. The mahogany essence confirms the refined and valuable workmanship of this artifact, characterized by a smooth and compact grain, typical of high-quality furnishings. The finish is glossy and enhances the natural chromatic variation of the wood, ranging from golden brown to brick red, while preserving the patina of time: the surface reflects natural wear, giving the object a unique historical charm.
The slope-front shape and the forward incline originally served to facilitate writing or consulting letters. The inner bottom is lined with elegant gobelin fabric with lively geometric patterns.
In good original condition and with its original patina, it shows some imperfections and one or two scratches due to age as shown in the photos.
