STORY / OVERVIEW
The 1963 Mercury Comet Station Wagon represents one of the most fascinating American family cars of the 1960s. Produced by Mercury, the division of Ford, it combines the robustness of American mechanicals with an elegant, personality-rich design typical of the American car’s golden era.
The Station Wagon version stands out for its large cargo space, extraordinary practicality, and the characteristic long-roof style, today particularly appreciated by collectors of American cars. Its limited production and scarce distribution in the European market make it an extremely rare model to find already registered in Italy.
The example offered at auction presents itself as an excellent conservatively kept specimen: the bodywork is solid, the interiors are factory-original and well maintained, while the four-speed manual transmission helps make this Comet a configuration particularly interesting, as indicated by the original build tag, for enthusiasts.
EXTERIOR
The bodywork retains the original and elegant color scheme Sultana White, restored a few years ago while maintaining the correct factory shade.
Overall condition is very good, with only a few light signs consistent with age and normal use of the vehicle. The structure appears solid and well-preserved, in line with the low mileage indicated.
A professional polishing and detailing treatment has recently been performed to further enhance the car’s presentation.
The underbody is solid and well preserved, free from evidence of accidents or structural repairs and compliant with regular road use.
INTERIOR
The original interiors are one of the main strengths of this example and are in excellent preserved condition.
The seats are well maintained and fully usable, while the car retains all major factory details, including the dashboard, instrumentation and original steering wheel.
Door panels, coverings and finishes show only mild signs compatible with the normal passage of time.
Recently a thorough sanitization of the entire cabin has been carried out.
MECHANICS
The car is functioning well and has been kept in running order through regular starts and use over time. The engine starts easily and allows regular vehicle use.
Manual transmission, clutch and drivetrain operate correctly, offering an authentic driving experience faithful to the model’s original characteristics.
The last technical inspection, passed in June 2026 and valid until June 2028, showed no defects, confirming the vehicle’s roadworthiness. Previous inspections in 2019, 2021, and 2023 were also successfully passed.
As with any classic car, before embarking on long journeys a general check and normal preventive maintenance is advisable.
A very rare 1963 Mercury Comet Station Wagon, already registered in Italy, with original interiors, four-speed manual transmission, and particularly interesting condition of conservation. An authentic American family car from the sixties, increasingly hard to find on the European market and destined to arouse growing interest among enthusiasts of out-of-Ocean motorism.

Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
