Gray ceramic cup from the enigmatic Oxus civilization.
Carinated cup resting on a slightly domed base, cylindrical body and a wide flared lip.
The Oxus civilization, unknown until 1970, is an intercultural civilization whose cities housed thousands of people. It flourished between Bactria and Margiana (present-day Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan) from the end of the 3rd to the beginning of the 2nd millennium BCE (c. 2300–1700).
Dimensions: height 6.2 cm - diameter 8.7 cm.
Very good condition – slight restoration.
Provenance: France, C.T.E
Previously: Former private collection of Mrs. and Mr. Pierre Lafrance, French ambassador
