Luba-Hemba ritual rattle, a wooden ritual object used during divination sessions, composed of gourds surmounted by a small statue of the mediator spirit. Seeds and magical elements, called bijimba, produce a sound when the object is manipulated. In good condition. Length 25 cm. The Luba-Hemba people are a Bantu ethnic group of the People's Republic of the Congo whose members are talented sculptors who produced mainly ancestor statues that they venerate to placate the spirits.
