Ancient Dogon statuette depicting a Dogon couple.
The lower limbs are roughly carved and bent.
They rest on a rectangular two-level support.
The figures have their hands joined in front of them.
Their faces are angular, the nose arrow-shaped, a small mouth and a large labret.
The eyes are rendered in metal.
The attitude/stance makes us think of a moment of contemplation.
This kind of statue could refer to the ancestors.
The wood is heavy and hard, with a beautiful cracked patina.
