A handsome set of two characterful Windsor spindle-back chairs, made from solid oak and featuring handwoven rattan seatings. The chairs are distinguished by their elegantly curved backrests, slender turned spindles, and traditional artisanal construction.

Based on the construction details, the hand-assembled seat rims, the traditional woodworking joints, and the rich natural patina, these chairs are likely dated to the period 1880-1920.

The chairs are crafted in the classic English Windsor style, a design that has been beloved since the 18th century for its comfortable seating and durable construction.

The seat rims consist of carefully curved solid wood segments that have been joined with traditional joints. The underside shows clear traces of artisanal work, confirming the traditional character of these chairs.

The chairs have recently been carefully cleaned and then finished with a very thin coat of traditional shellac, preserving the original patina and giving the wood a warm, subtle satin glow. A deliberate choice was made to preserve rather than fully restore, so that the authentic appearance remains.
