Description from the seller

Set of 4 French Louis XV Revival Oak Dining Chairs – Hand Carved – Mid-19th Century (ca. 1840–1860)

Description
This elegant set of four French Louis XV Revival dining chairs dates from the mid-19th century, circa 1840–1860, and is crafted from solid oak. The chairs display the refined craftsmanship and sculptural elegance associated with the Louis XV Revival period.

Each chair features beautifully hand-carved details, including shell motifs, scrolling acanthus decoration and impressive claw feet. The richly carved crest rail and shaped cabriole legs demonstrate the high level of workmanship expected from quality French furniture of this period.

The chairs have recently been professionally reupholstered in a high-quality, neutral beige fabric, finished with antique-style brass upholstery studs. The upholstery complements the warm oak patina while preserving the historical character of the chairs.

The solid oak frames retain a beautiful aged surface with an attractive patina developed over more than 170 years. Minor wear, small restorations and age-related shrinkage are consistent with their age and confirm their authenticity. The construction remains solid and stable, making the chairs suitable for everyday use as well as decorative interiors.
These are elegant and highly decorative chairs that would complement both classical and contemporary interiors.
