Description from the seller

BACCARAT

Crystal-clear Elephant

Remarkable wildlife sculpture in clear crystal crafted by the prestigious Baccarat Manufacture, depicting an elephant in a majestic stance, the trunk raised as a sign of prosperity and happiness. The form, of great sobriety, highlights the animal's natural power through clean lines and generous volumes, enhanced by the exceptional transparency of the crystal.

Entirely shaped in crystal of remarkable purity, this work illustrates Baccarat's technical and artistic excellence. The perfectly polished surfaces catch and diffuse light with incomparable intensity, revealing all the depth and the brilliance characteristic of the French manufacturer's creations.

The subject rests on its four legs, without a separate base, in an balanced composition where the head is slightly inclined and the trunk raised confer to the whole an elegant and timeless presence. Under the base lies the acid stamp “Baccarat France,” attesting to its authenticity.

Elephants occupy a special place in Baccarat's animal repertoire and were issued in several sizes and interpretations during the second half of the 20th century, notably after models by the sculptor Bernard Augst, author of numerous animal sculptures for the Manufacture.
