Description from the seller
CARLO MONTE (1961) - The Blue Departure - Mixed media on canvas
Mixed media techniques, Acrylic painting · Digital painting · Hand-signed · 2026
Her half-closed gaze, haughty and distant, she holds the wheel of a long night-blue speedster as one holds the thread of a dream of speed. A wide pearl silk scarf wraps around her neck in sculpted folds, while her brown hair waves in flawless tufts, a pure line of the 1930s. Her garnet lips, ivory skin shaped by stark light, her silver-ringed hand resting on black leather: everything speaks of the quiet confidence of a woman racing toward elsewhere. Behind her, the sky splits into a kaleidoscope of blue, slate and silver facets, where the world crystallizes into Deco geometry. The inclined windshield and the lacquered body frame this mechanical muse, a figure of an era tinged with engines and pure lines. Cubist glamour, cool elegance, the audacity of a driver who stares at the horizon without blinking — it is the very spirit of the Jazz Age, transfigured.
Technique: mixed media: acrylic paint on ink-pigment print, varnish.
Varnish applied by hand, for color depth and durable protection of the artwork.
Support: premium canvas stretched on wooden frame, ready to hang.
Format: 40x60
Signed CARLO MONTE · Galerie Labo Joconde / Atelier Joconde · certificate of authenticity provided.
CARLO MONTE is one of the creations bringing together artists Le Yack, Neo Pablo and Popsan within Atelier Joconde, a family studio where three sensibilities coexist: neo-realism, Pop, and free figuration. Under the name CARLO MONTE, the Atelier brings back to life the Art Deco golden age and the glamour of the 1930s: geometric figuration, crystalline facets, sculptural molding and mechanical elegance, in the vein of the great cubist muses of the interwar period.
CARLO MONTE gathers figures captured in the blaze of the Jazz Age, modern women, gleaming machines, faceted décors, where pure line and cool color celebrate speed and emancipation. The through-line: a dialogue between Art Deco heritage and a contemporary gaze, where pictorial matter enhances and transfigures the printed image.
Each work is a unique piece.
