Silver 15 Kopeks coin minted at the Saint Petersburg Mint during the reign of Tsar Nicholas II, in the first year of Russia's participation in World War I. The obverse features the crowned double-headed imperial eagle, with scepter and orb, bearing the great Imperial Shield and the territorial shields on the wings, a heraldic composition of notable richness and artistic balance. The reverse shows the denomination and the date beneath the imperial crown, surrounded by an elegant open crown of laurel and oak branches tied together at the bottom, following the characteristic design of the Russian divisionary coin of the era. This specimen retains an attractive original luster with soft silver tones, well-defined relief and uniform fields, presenting light contact marks consistent with the MS62 grade awarded by NGC. This is a representative issue of the last silver mintings carried out in Saint Petersburg before the deep political and monetary transformations that led to the end of the Russian Empire in 1917.
