Description from the seller
Elegant Walnut Column Display Cabinet in Renaissance Style
Fascinating column display cabinet (stipo), crafted in solid walnut wood and finely worked. The piece stands out for its slender lines and the rich carved ornamentation that runs along the uprights and the base, recalling the taste of Italian Neo-Renaissance.
Description and Details
The structure features a wide front glass door and glass-sided panels as well, a configuration ideal for maximizing internal light and highlighting collectibles, silverware, or rare books.
Carving: The front uprights are decorated with foliage and scroll motifs in relief, executed with notable artisanal skill. The plinth-base is enriched by a beaded frame that lends solidity and significance to the figure.
Interior: The inner back panel is exposed wood, offering a warm and elegant contrast with the glass. Side supports (dados) for inserting the shelves are present.
Hardware: Original lock with an external brass escutcheon and an included, functioning period key.
Condition
The piece presents in good overall condition, solid and structurally intact. As visible in the detailed photographs, it shows the normal signs of age testifying to its authenticity:
- Minor superficial scratches and small nicks on the upper edges (see photos 0019/0020).
- A small superficial loss on the top part of the door frame.
- Interior lacks glass shelves (custom-orderable to suit individual needs).
- The inner base shows natural wood grain (photo 0017).
