The Tape Recorder Museum is busy renewing its collection. In the near future, a number of beautiful devices will become available.
This time it concerns a gorgeous refurbished PHILIPS/ARISTONA tape recorder from the mid-1970s.
The tape recorder features, among other things, the following specifications:
- 2 speeds (4.75 and 9.5 cm/s)
- 4 tracks
- year of manufacture 1973
- portable recorder with built-in amplifier / loudspeaker
- including dust cover
- also possible to connect to an amplifier/computer
- including a full and an empty reel with music, over 4 hours of music from the 50s, 60s and 70s
- this tape was recorded with Aristona itself

The following work has been carried out to bring the device to this condition:
- old discolored strings and remnants removed, completely cleaned
- new drive strings installed
- the 4 worn suspension rubbers have been replaced
- friction rubber pads under the take-up spools have also been replaced
- switches and controls cleaned to prevent crackling and hissing
- rotating and moving parts: old grease removed and re-greased or oiled
- small capacitors in the amplifier section replaced
- AC187 transistor, which often causes malfunctions, has also been replaced
- finally a new lamp installed
This is a beautiful iconic tape recorder that can be used for many more years.
