"Degas danseres" refers to the many paintings and sculptures of ballet dancers made by the French artist Edgar Degas.
The most famous sculpture is probably the "Petite Danseuse de Quatorze Ans" (Fourteen-Year-Old Dancer), a wax statue by the Belgian Marie van Goethem from 1880 that is renowned for its realism.
