Illinois Watch Co. pocket watch with a manual-winding movement, open-face stainless steel case, 40 mm diameter, dating to the 1920s, in good condition with visible signs of wear.
Description from the seller
Illinois Watch Co. pocket watch, USA, Art Deco style, engraved case, 1920s
• Case: cushion (tonneau) shape, light metal (nickel or white-lamé gold — to be verified via the inner hallmark/back), engraved with a vegetal motif/laurel leaf around the rim
• Winding crown: fluted, onion-shaped, crown decorated with a blackened motif (niellé-like)
• Dial: silvered, signed “ILLINOIS”, Arabic numerals — part in black, part in gold (stylized Art Deco typography)
• Small seconds: sub-dial at 6 o’clock with its own scale
• Hands: steel, in “sabre leaf” (spade hands) style
• Case back: smooth and polished, with a border engraved to match the dial; at the center, traces of an erased monogram/crest (faint, to be examined with a loupe)
• Type: open-face dial (open face), no hinged cover
