Offered is an exceptional collection of eight early issues of the legendary Zap Comix, one of the most influential publications of the American underground comix movement. Created by Robert Crumb and joined by artists including S. Clay Wilson, Victor Moscoso, Rick Griffin, Gilbert Shelton, Robert Williams, and Spain Rodriguez, Zap revolutionized alternative comics through its uncompromising satire, experimental storytelling, and groundbreaking artwork. Published by Apex Novelties and Print Mint between 1968 and 1974, these issues represent the formative years of the series and the height of the underground comix movement.

The collection includes:

* Zap Comix #0 – later printing
* Zap Comix #1 – later 35¢ printing
* Zap Comix #2 – later 50¢ printing
* Zap Comix #3 – first printing (heavy cover stock)
* Zap Comix #4 – fourth printing (75¢)
* Zap Comix #5 – second printing (75¢)
* Zap Comix #6 – first printing (50¢)
* Zap Comix #7 – second printing (75¢)

Conditions vary. Issues #0–2 are in good to very good condition, with cover wrinkling and other defects described individually. Issues #3–7 present in very fine condition overall, with sharp, smooth covers, strong colors, and no significant scuffing or creasing visible. Interiors show normal age toning. Please examine the photographs carefully for the condition of each issue.

One condition note should be mentioned: Zap Comix #0 has a localized light patch within the large black “MEATBALL” title on one interior page (see two images). The reverse of the leaf shows no corresponding discoloration, indicating that this is not water damage but rather a localized surface abrasion or printing defect affecting only the printed ink.

A cohesive collection of early Zap Comix issues in this level of preservation is increasingly difficult to assemble. Featuring work by many of the defining artists of the underground comix movement, this lot represents an outstanding opportunity for collectors of Robert Crumb, counterculture publications, and twentieth-century comic art.
