Description from the seller
HAND-SCARVED SOLID WOOD FRAME
Highly sought-after!!
Description
This frame corresponds to a very specific and sought-after style in flea markets and antiques: it is a solid oak frame in Folk Art style (regional, Breton or Celtic-inspired), dating from the late 19th century or the first half of the 20th century (approximately between 1880 and 1940).
Let yourself be charmed by the authentic charm of this solid wood frame, beautifully hand-carved. Adorned with a continuous frieze of volutes and scrolling motifs in striking relief, it testifies to remarkable cabinetmaking craftsmanship.
The natural patina of the oak wood is enhanced by a play of dark, charcoal-like contrasts in the hollows of the carving, which deepens the motifs and gives the object a unique character. The back of the frame reveals a robust traditional miter joint assembly and a clean rabbet, ready to accommodate your artwork, a mirror, or a piece of art photography.
