Het beleg van Haarlem, an uncoloured copper engraving by C. Decker from the Netherlands, depicting Haarlem with its siege in 1572–1573 and measuring 28.5 × 34.5 cm in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Historical print of the siege of Haarlem by the Spaniards in 1572-1573. In a bird's-eye view with the buildings shown in revolt.
In the center above a drapery with the coat of arms of Haarlem and the legend 1-11, and on a ribbon behind the title. The back is blank.
Lower left in the foreground is the camp of the Spaniards with officers. Among them stands Don Frederik with a letter in which the Haarlem population is asked to surrender. To the right, the Huis te Kleef, Don Frederik's residence. Behind the army camps troops march toward Haarlem.
Signed and engraved by Coenraet Decker, lower left in the map 'C. Decker fec. et In.'
