Braun Nizo S126 Super 8 Camera – Working, Documented, Original Paperwork

Braun Nizo S126 Super 8 film camera fitted with the Schneider-Kreuznach Variogon 1.8/8–48 mm lens. The camera is in good vintage condition and comes with unusually complete provenance, including the original documentation, purchase paperwork, service markings and handwritten filmmaking notes from a previous, unidentified owner.

The camera has been function-tested and operates at all available frame rates. The film transport runs correctly, the single-frame function works, and the camera responds normally when operated. The automatic exposure system produces a reading, although its absolute accuracy has not been independently verified with specialist equipment or film stock.

Optically, the lens glass appears free from cracks, fogging or cloudiness. The viewfinder is clear. The outer metal rim around the front of the lens is lightly bent, but this does not appear to affect the glass or normal operation.

Inside the film compartment there is an etched service date, adding further detail to the camera’s history. The set includes the original paperwork and handwritten filmmaking notes, giving it considerably more provenance than most surviving examples.

One technical repair should be noted clearly: during inspection, one of the battery-contact springs inside the handle detached completely. There had also been battery leakage, and the affected area was cleaned of corrosion. The missing contact spring has been replaced with a suitable loose spring from a remote-control battery compartment. It is held securely in position by the battery and the screwed-on handle cover. The camera currently powers on and operates with this solution, but it should be regarded as a practical repair rather than an original factory restoration.

Because this is a vintage electronic film camera, it is sold in its present condition. Its main mechanical functions have been verified, but the camera has not undergone a professional service or laboratory calibration.

A particularly interesting example for a collector, filmmaker or Braun/Nizo enthusiast due to its working condition, clear optics and extensive surviving documentation.
