Navicella - .800 silver - 1750-1800 - Small silver boat

Refined boat-shaped incense burner entirely in silver, Neapolitan manufacture, datable presumably between the end of the 18th century and the early 19th century (stile and decoration referable to the neoclassical/late Baroque taste).
Form: boat-shaped body on an oval base, supported by a centrally shaped and flared stem.
Lid: hinged opening, with the upper surface worked with vertical lines/grooves and a central reserve with a chiseled radiating motif.
Prongs/finials: at one end a cherub’s head folded to form the handle; at the opposite end a relief grotesque mask/head, with a movable ring for attaching the spoon.
Body: repoussé decoration with a continuous band of vegetal motifs (leaves, buds and tendrils) around the entire circumference.
Stem and base: stem with acanthus leaves chased, base with concentric molded steps.
