VII - XIIth century
Dimensions: Height 8 cm x Width 10 cm
Very beautiful set consisting of nine small-format pottery and ceramic pieces (balm pots, ointment pots, pigments or offering oils) illustrating the diversity of firing and glaze techniques in ancient China, from proto-celadon and earthenware productions to crackled Song celadons.
Jar with looped handles (Si'er guan - 四耳罐)
Globular jar depressed with a short neck and rim, flanked by four small ear-shaped handles.
Brown/olive dark glaze, vitrified and slightly cracked, stopping at the base.
Period: Tang Dynasty to early Song (8th – 10th century)
Small jar with double handles in light terracotta with a high, flared neck, flanked by two vertical handles attached to the shoulder. Tang Dynasty, 9th century.
Three globular pots with crackled celadon glaze, Song Dynasty (960–1279)
Four micro-vases in proto-celadon stoneware and raw terracotta. Probably Tang Dynasty.
Condition:
Overall very good: Good overall conservation for archaeological-era pieces. Some chips and small cracks. Burial marks, earth encrustations of origin and light wear on the necks and bases, all fully consistent with this type of objects.
