Mid-century table lamp with a brass foot and a leather covering, of Italian origin from the 1950s–1960s, featuring a parchment shade and a braided cord with a brass pull-switch, in good vintage condition with signs of use and in working order.
Description from the seller
Mid-century table lamp with brass foot and leather coating – pig bladder/parchment shade
Italy, 1950s-60s
Atmospheric mid-century table lamp, height ~88 cm, with a heavy round base and cylindrical stem in solid brass, the middle section clad in brown leather, finished with a braided cord and brass pull-switch. The lamp has a double socket, visible in the detail photo of the exposed construction.
The original shade is made of parchment/"pig bladder"-paper (parchment) with a naturally veined, crumpled surface, and is edged with a wide leather rim featuring a decorative cut and pierced border — a characteristic mid-century finish from Italian ateliers of that period. When lit, the shade emits a warm amber glow.
This combination of brass, leather and a parchment shade is typical of Italian design from the 1950s-1960s, in the style of makers like Jacques Adnet and contemporaries who produced brass lamps upholstered in leather.
In good vintage condition, with clear signs of wear and small spots.
Please study the photos for a clear indication.
Works with original wiring.
