Figurine - Chinses Figure of Budai - Silver

A rare Chinese cast bronze Budai (Laughing Buddha) child’s hat ornament dating to the Qing Dynasty (1644–1912). Finely cast in miniature, the cheerful Budai is depicted seated with his characteristic smiling face, exposed belly and long earlobes, while a scroll is shown on his back. Such ornaments were traditionally attached to the hats of children from prosperous families as auspicious talismans, symbolising blessings for good health, happiness, longevity, prosperity and divine protection. The reverse bears a cast maker’s mark, indicating the producing workshop and adding historical interest to the piece. This charming ornament is an excellent example of Qing Dynasty miniature metal craftsmanship and traditional Chinese children’s attire.
