Calvo, Barking at the Electric Sun XL, acrylic and marker on canvas, 87 × 130 cm (81 × 124 cm framed), 2026, original edition, signed with a certificate of authenticity, in excellent condition, Italy, street art with pop culture theme and neo‑expressionist style featuring two stylised anthropomorphic animal figures.
Description from the seller
Acrylic and marker on canvas, measures 87 x 130 cm, after stretching 81 x 124 cm, signed with certificate of authenticity.
The work stands out for a vibrant neo-expressionist aesthetic that strongly recalls the language of Street Art, Art Brut, and the graphic universe of masters such as Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring.
Main subjects: Two stylized, anthropomorphic animal figures (resembling cats/dogs with a feline bearing) dominate the foreground. They have black bodies outlined with thick blue contour lines and blue-toned faces rich in expressive details, with grotesque, ironic, and almost hypnotic gazes.
The color contrast is bold and uncompromising. The background is split between a strip of fuchsia/fire-red ground and a saturated blue sky pierced by an energetic yellow sun.
Entire composition is permeated by a playful yet mysterious visual dynamism: floating arrows, hearts with devil’s tails, stylized flowers, a bright pear placed at the center, and small splashes of color that impart immediacy and spontaneity to the brushwork.
