Plate - Earthenware - Creamware Prince William V

English creamware plate, painted in Holland with Orangist decor, c. 1785-1790. Depiction of Princess Wilhelmina of Prussia and Prince William V of Orange-Nassau, dating from the Patriot era.

On the rim a six-part inscription, translated as: "As long as the sun and moon stand in the heavens, the orange color shall never fade; I saw this this afternoon, just in the sign of the covenant, with reverence for I must praise God, there I saw orange above."

Diameter = 25 cm

In good antique condition, a few small flea bites on the rim, light wear to the paint, craquelure in the glaze and some discoloration of the glaze.
