John Smith - Tea spoon (2) - .925 silver - Irish Victorian Silver

A fine pair of Irish sterling silver teaspoons by the respected Dublin silversmith John Smyth, assayed in 1849. Crafted in the elegant Old English pattern, both spoons bear clear Dublin hallmarks comprising the crowned harp, Hibernia and date letter, together with the maker's mark JS. Each handle is engraved with the original period monogram "JRG", adding to their authenticity and historical appeal. With a combined weight of 44 g, the pair displays an attractive, lightly aged patina and honest signs of use consistent with age, while the hallmarks remain crisp and well defined. A handsome and collectible example of mid-19th-century Irish silver, equally suited to a collection of Irish flatware or as an elegant addition to the dining table.
