Description from the seller
David Law
Photographic Artist – Creator of Contemporaries Images
Multidisciplinary photographic artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first made himself known with a series devoted to display mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectable dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relation to illusion and projection.
New Series – Fragment of Memory - Brick Icons
Built from colored LEGO-type bricks, these portraits transform the great icons of music and cinema into images close to pixel art. Between childhood nostalgia and popular culture, a few hundred bricks are enough to resurrect instantly recognizable faces.
Edition & Manufacturing
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies plus 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are made on aluminum with a mounted backing. Printing on bright white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with a soft UV- and humidity-resistant laminate, ensuring excellent durability, great longevity, color stability and a modern, contemporary look.
Background
Since 2014, David Law participates in around twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel with his visual activity, he develops a body of work as an author and musician, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
