Antique Palm Vase in Carved and Leaf-Gilded Wood in Empire / Neoclassical Style, 19th Century
Refined and elegant palm vase (altar candle holder in the shape of an amphora) in finely carved wood and gold-leaf gilded in pure gold, dating to the first half of the 19th century (Empire / Neoclassical Period). The piece is distinguished by the slender, geometric line typical of neoclassical taste of the era, characterized by two large mirrored side handles in a scroll shape and a central body decorated at the lower part with acanthus leaf motifs. The amphora rests on a slender balustrade base that ends in a square plinth. The upper part is topped by a carved pinnacle with a central hole.
