Description from the seller

Silver articulated fish – Spain – second half of the 20th century

Magnificent silver articulated fish, made by Spanish silversmith masters during the second half of the 20th century. It is a piece of extraordinary artistic and technical quality, conceived as a decorative collectible object.

Its body is formed by numerous articulated links that reproduce with great realism the natural movement of the fish.

Each scale has been worked individually through chiseling and engraving, while the fins, the tail and the head show an exceptional level of detail. The eyes are adorned with red cabochons, lending expressiveness and elegance to the whole.

This type of piece required many hours of completely artisanal work. The complexity of its fabrication made the intervention of highly specialized silversmiths necessary, able to assemble each segment while preserving the flexibility and harmony of the design.

Today, a work of this level would be extremely costly to produce due to the high number of hours of manual work required, which is why it has virtually disappeared from contemporary production.

Spanish metalwork achieved extraordinary international prestige during the 20th century, being recognized in numerous exhibitions and competitions for the quality of its designs and the excellence of its execution. This articulated fish faithfully represents that artisanal tradition and makes an excellent piece for collectors of artistic silver.
