Great Russian icon representing Christ in Majesty seated on a throne, blessing with his right hand and holding the opened Gospel. He is surrounded by the Virgin, Saint John the Forerunner and an assembly of saints among whom Saint Helen, Saint Alexis, Saint Andrew, Saint Paul, Saint Tatiana, Saint Alexandra and Saint Theodora, identified by their inscriptions in Slavonic.
This solemn composition, richly enhanced by golden backgrounds, illustrates the Russian Orthodox iconographic tradition of the 19th century.
