Description from the seller
General
Offered is this beautiful and stylish Mercedes-Benz E420 from the legendary W124 series. The W124 is worldwide known as one of the best-built cars ever, and this E420 is among the absolute top variants. This model was delivered new in Japan on December 1, 1993 and was later imported to Europe by the first owner. It is an iconic Mercedes with character and class, representing an excellent investment for the future for both enthusiasts and collectors.
Regarding the mileage, it should be noted that the mechanical odometer has very recently malfunctioned at an indicated 193,308 kilometres. Since then, demonstrably and estimated, only about 500 kilometres have been driven with the car. The total, true mileage is therefore estimated at around 194,000 kilometres. Because the odometer is currently stationary, the car is expressly sold with this defective odometer.
Bodywork and Paint
The exterior of this understated business sedan is in a neat and well-kept condition. The W124 range has a massive road presence and this particular version exudes pure quality. All body panels align correctly and the paintwork looks tidy. As a functional body option, the car is equipped with an electric sunroof that opens and closes perfectly and smoothly. A small technical note is that the headlight wipers are currently defective and require inspection.
Technical
Under the hood lies the legendary 4.2-liter V8 engine from Mercedes-Benz, known for its smooth and powerful performance without losing its refined character. This is not a screaming sports car, but a supremely comfortable touring car with ample power. The car delivers a fantastic driving experience and features comfortable power steering and cruise control for effortless highway trips. The vehicle has very recently, on May 1, 2026, been provided with a new roadworthiness inspection, underscoring the ready-to-drive character of this classic.
Interior
The interior is upholstered in fully black leather and radiates the authentic luxury and top quality that Mercedes-Benz could offer during this period. The cabin is in beautiful condition and is equipped with nearly all the luxury options that were available at the time. The car features electric windows all around, a well-functioning air conditioning system, and an original Becker radio that perfectly fits the classic dashboard appearance. Between the front seats there is a lockable storage compartment in the center console.
Documents
The car comes with the necessary documentation that accompanies its Japanese history and subsequent import. Thanks to the recent inspection on May 1, 2026, the car is ready to participate in traffic legally. The vehicle is supplied complete with two original car keys and an additional specific key intended for the lock of the storage compartment in the center console.
Viewing
The buyer has the unique opportunity to become owner of an excellent running piece of German automotive history. The car can be viewed and picked up in consultation with the seller. It is recommended to inspect the car before bidding to gain a full picture of this unique V8 limousine.
Other Information
The combination of its original condition, the relatively rare and sought-after V8 engine, and the growing interest in this model makes it a unique object. Since the car has nearly all conceivable factory options, this is a beautiful and complete example from which the new owner can immediately enjoy.

Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
