Artist biography: Nguyen Robert (born 1958)
Born in 1958 in Ben Tre, an authentic village tucked in the heart of the Mekong Delta, Nguyen Robert is a Franco-Vietnamese artist whose work is distinguished by a singular fusion of Asian traditions and Western artistic influences. From a young age, he was fascinated by the rural architecture of his surroundings, the lines of traditional houses, the volumes of floating markets, the shadows cast by water palms—elements that would become the foundation of his visual language.

Always based in his homeland region, Nguyen Robert over the decades developed a deeply contemporary, modern, and decidedly architectural style. His paintings explore structures, lines, urban rhythms, and geometric abstraction, while preserving a poetic sensitivity intrinsic to Vietnamese culture.

His Franco-Vietnamese heritage enriches his approach: he borrows from the West the rigor of modern compositions and the boldness of contrasts, while his Vietnamese soul infuses his works with softness, spirituality, and fluidity. The result is a pictorial universe where modernity meets the timeless, where geometry dialogues with light, creating paintings of strong visual power.
