Description from the seller
WOVEN TAPESTRY, tapestry technique, motif of the 18th century, Germany.
Beautiful German wall tapestry Tapestry Gobelin Rococo style – Jacquard wall tapestry in Aubusson style. Tapestry with gallant landscape scene.
Large decorative Gobelin / wall tapestry – Hunt scene in Rococo style
Very decorative, beautifully woven Gobelin wall tapestry with a detailed depiction of a aristocratic hunting scene in the French Rococo style of the 18th century. The motif shows elegantly dressed hunters accompanied by dogs in an idealized park-like landscape with trees, a river landscape in the background – a classic scene based on historical models, as typical for European tapestries.
Manufacture of high-quality Gobelin and wall tapestry goods, often produced in the classical style. Many pieces are offered as decorative wall hangings, produced with high technical quality.
The Gobelin was produced on Jacquard looms, which is evident from the uniform weave structure, the high detail resolution and the precise color gradations. The color palette is harmonious and subdued (beige, green, blue, ocher and rose tones) and underlines the classical character of the piece. The fine weaving allows a clear depiction of faces, clothing, landscape elements and movement, without coarse transitions.
The border features a classic floral ornament that reinforces the elegant overall impression.
Usage:
As a wall hanging, decorative textile for living rooms or representative spaces, hunting rooms, classical interiors or collectors of decorative textiles. Whether as wall decoration, collector’s item or classic accent in a historic interior – this wall tapestry charmingly embodies the French art of the 18th century and brings an atmosphere of elegance and nostalgia into any room.
Color Gradations
The transitions in skin tones, fabrics, and shadows arise through: many small color changes; here you see classic color modeling.
Colors and clothing: The pastel tones and the fashion of the figures (ruffles, bodices, knee breeches) clearly point to the 18th century. Technique: The format, the border and the hanging loops; Composition: The curved lines, the playful elegance and the background with park landscape; such scenes, often with rural-romantic or amorous themes, are characteristic of French Rococo tapestries.
Contours & Lines
Face, hands, legs appear soft and lively
Hanging: Integrated loops for wall mounting
