Saint-Louis crystal decanter
France, 20th century
Height: 25 cm — diameter: 8 cm

Elegant cut crystal decanter, characterized by an alternation of smooth surfaces and a decorative frieze composed of motifs cut into diamond points.

The stopper and the base bear the number 12, engraved with a stylus. The base also bears the Saint-Louis manufactory stamp.

The Compagnie des Cristalleries de Saint-Louis[2] is a French crystal manufacturer that creates pieces in the fields of decoration, tableware, lighting, and furniture. Founded in 1586 in the Münzthal valley in Moselle, it is the oldest crystal works in France. It belongs to the Hermès group.

The crystal pieces are mouth-blown, cut, and hand-decorated.

The manufactory constitutes the sole production site for Saint-Louis crystal pieces. It is accompanied by a museum, La Grande Place, inaugurated in June 2007.

The Saint-Louis crystal works operates in the realms of Table Arts, decoration, lighting, and furniture with crystal pieces made by master glassmakers and master cutters. The know-how of the factory artisans requires about 10 years of apprenticeship.

The crystal works hosts within it several artisans honored as Best Craftsmen of France[
