This figurine depicts the famous dancer Fanny Elssler and was designed by Hugo Meisel, as evidenced by the initials engraved on the stem, beside the mark identifying Capodimonte porcelain. Dresden lace (known in German as Dresdner Spitze) is a refined artisanal technique applied to porcelain figurines. It consists of applying real lace fragments embedded in liquid porcelain onto the figures' garments, which then burn away during firing, leaving an extremely realistic and delicate porcelain fabric. The figurine has no chips.
