Description from the seller
Antique oil lamp "alla fiorentina" with three tips (flames) - Brass - Italy - 19th Century
Antique oil lamp of Italian manufacture "alla fiorentina" with three tips (flames).
Material: Cast brass, accessory elements in wrought iron.
Period: First half of the 19th century (Empire/Restoration era, about 1800-1840).
Origin: Italy.
Dimensions: Height 57 cm | Base diameter 16 cm.
Aesthetic and construction details:
A completely original and contemporaneous specimen from the early 19th century, characterized by excellent craftsmanship.
The oil reservoir features at the top a fine neoclassical geometric Greek key incised by rolling.
Inside the basin are marks typical of period casting, with the arms’ holes finished by manual filing.
The lamp is complete with its three original maintenance accessories hanging on hand-worked iron chains (bell-shaped extinguishers and tweezers).
Conditions and notes:
The object is in generally good conserved condition. It preserves the original structural integrity and a splendid natural dark patina, not artificially polished.
The bottom of the base presents in its original state, unweighted brass casting, with widespread genuine gray-green surface oxidation accumulated over time and the contemporaneous central fixing pin.
Transparency note: Some metal wires for one of the protective caps have been replaced in the past and are not original.
Macro photographs of the inside of the reservoir, the bottom of the base, and the chains document the authenticity and the object's age and are an integral part of the description.
Tracked shipping with professional protective packaging.
