Ornament in the style of Djenné - Mali

Ornament - Bronze - Djenné - Mali - 23 cm.

This ornament cast in lost-wax shows a complex composition.
The lower part displays a rectangle made of braiding and multiple nails.
In the center appears a miniature bearded figure wearing a large headdress.
Behind him, two large arms raised, ending in clenched fists.
On the sides, two axes curved outward and pierced at their ends.
The meaning of this object is not really known.
Nevertheless, it could originally have been a scepter intended for the royal court of Mali.
The object is fairly large and heavy.
It is in good condition.
