Table lamp base in red crystal by Val Saint Lambert, featuring a cranberry core with a clear overlay, in mid‑century modern style, 47 cm high with an 11 by 8 cm base and weighing 3.1 kg, Belgian origin (Liège), signed with the factory label, in very good used condition with minor wear and an untested electrical system.
Description from the seller
Spectacular and majestic sculptural table lamp base in fine solid crystal, from the prestigious Belgian crystal works Val Saint Lambert. A true icon of post-war design from the 1950s-1960s, this piece features the complex cased glass technique, combining an intense and vibrant cranberry-pink core with a thick, pristine clear crystal overlay. The slender silhouette comes alive with a superb organic movement of hot-stretched twisted ribs that flare outward into an architectural tripod base, catching and reflecting light masterfully throughout the room (an object so heavy and stable it will effortlessly survive the attacks of even the most enthusiastic duster). The piece is fully signed by hand on the polished base "Val St Lambert" and proudly retains its original golden factory foil label on the body, testifying to its authentic studio heritage. The object remains in very good vintage condition, exhibiting minor, honest signs of surface wear underneath the base. The period electrical wiring and switch are present with their brass socket, but the system is sold untested purely as a standard regulatory safety precaution. Regarding technical specifications, this crystal giant stands at an impressive height of 47 cm up to the socket, features a base measuring 11 by 8 cm, and carries a massive weight of 3100 g. A highly decorative and sophisticated statement piece, perfect for bringing a touch of retro-chic elegance and dramatic light presence to a modernist interior. Please study the detailed photographs carefully as they form an essential part of the description. The lot will be packed using professional-grade, heavy-duty protective materials and shipped with full track and trace tracking.
